Florida Caverns State Park, also called Marianna Caverns State Park, is one of Florida’s most popular State Parks. They are open from 8 am until sundown 365 days a year and offer some of the most amazing views you will see anywhere in the country. A mystical cave within Florida Caverns State Park in Marianna, Florida, features flowstones, stalactites, stalagmites, and draperies. You can expect this and more as you plunge into the depths of one of Florida’s most astonishing cave structures.
Overview
This magnificent cave system is a rarity in Florida (a state not really known for its cave structures) and brings you into a whole new world. While underground, you will have the opportunity to move between large rooms that feature chisel marks left behind from 1930s era Civilian Conservation Corps Workers. These workers expanded the cave and allowed visitors to stand upright as they explored the depths. The State Park offers guided tours. You can expect a 350-foot walk to the cave entrance, followed by 35 stairs down into the caverns, where you will stroll through the caves at a leisurely pace. The cavern is consistently 65 degrees, so be sure to dress suitably.
Note: During the cave tours, it is common to see bats, frogs, snakes, spiders, salamanders, and mice. So be prepared for some wildlife that you may encounter on your tour.
